In Robert Frost’s writing, he uses a multitude of images that often deal with nature to write on themes of death and sorrow.

Frost’s use of imagery to depict death can be seen in his poem, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Frost begins the poem with the speaker stating, “He will not see me stopping here to watch his woods fill up with snow” (Stopping by Woods 540)....

Throughout the poems I have read this quarter thus far, I have discovered the use of imagery as a prominent source of literary embellishment.

In particular the image of night is used in poems "Acquainted with the Night," written by Robert Frost, and "Her Kind," written by Anne Sexton, to portray a dark and lonely tone....

In his poem, “Acquainted with the Night”, by using a smooth and static rhythm, bleak and dreary imageries, unique diction, and well-thought syntax of sentences, Frost conveys a feeling of lonesome and isolation.

The poem’s beat is very calm and is in perfect iambic pentameter, which creates a nice and easy flow throughout the poem, giving the reader a sense of solitude....

Readers must both compare and contrast different works and prior knowledge to draw conclusions about poetic pieces.

In Emily Dickinson’s poem written in 1862, first published in 1935, “We grow accustomed to the Dark“, and Robert Frost’s 1927 poem, “Acquainted with the Night”, the two poems both convey the unrelenting darkness and night in the world....

Unfortunately, we never find out what makes the narrator so dejected, but Frost lets us know in his writing how the narrator handles things throughout his late night walking in the city.

This poem articulates depression, loneliness, and isolation.
