If the intro is not clear, then the reader may have problems following your thoughts. For students who have no idea on how to start the introduction, I would recommend to do the following (this is not written in the assessment criteria, it is a personal advice, read the disclaimer at the top of the page! Should I define important terms in the introduction? What you need is a structured approach in analyzing the prescribed titles.
An unclear introduction may also be a sign that you, the author, are not fully clear of the ideas yourself. Clarify the terminology, explain the prescribed title question, but do not give me a dictionary definition.
This means we work with the IB Seniors outside of regular class time when they write their TOK essays for IB.
We meet individually with each Senior three times to review progress on their essay.
The TOK essay is a to one of six titles released at the beginning of your second year (DP2). How and when the essay is written will very much depend on your school.
The essay titles will change for every session (May and November each year) although the focus very much remains the nature, production, acquisition and application of knowledge.
Both are necessary in order to pass the TOK component and therefore be able to receive the Diploma.
Your TOK score contributes, with the Extended Essay, up to three points depending on the quality of both, to your total score of IBDP points (maximum 45).
